Cashmere Scarves

Our cashmere scarves are easily one of the most popular items in our knitwear hall. Soft, luxurious and with a natural warmth that no other fabric can match, our cashmere scarves are just the ticket for keeping out winter winds and staying cosy in cold weather.

Cashmere is known and admired throughout the world for its softness and for the fineness of its fibres. Our cashmere scarves are produced by Johnstons' textile mills, master craftsmen who operate the UK's only remaining vertical mill. With over two centuries of experience in the textile industry, Johnstons are uniquely qualified to uphold the high standards that you expect from the House of Bruar.

Cashmere comes from the Cashmere goat, which is native to the high plateaus of Asia, particularly in regions of India, Nepal and China. The cashmere fibre itself comes from the soft insulating undercoat of the goat, which has to be meticulously combed out from the rougher surrounding guard hair.

The cashmere fibres can only be gathered once a year, and each one of our cashmere scarves takes the equivalent of the entire yield of a single goat to make. This is why cashmere remains such a premium luxury textile, and why our cashmere scarves are so sought after by people who appreciate quality clothing.

The House of Bruar Cashmere Collection

Our cashmere scarves are just the tip of the iceberg of the House of Bruar's cashmere range. In fact, we have the UK's largest stock of high-quality cashmere clothing, which includes cashmere cardigans, jumpers and coats.
