In the same aquatic design given to Queen Elizabeth in 1958, this 1.4 litre/2 pint Gluggle jug makes a delightful gurgling sound when used.
Stoke-On-Trent is synonymous with fine pottery, and the Gluggle jug is still proudly made in Stoke using time-honoured techniques. Wonderfully novel, this jug has a beautiful sinuous fish shape which has a fashionably vintage appearance. However, The Gluggle jug's real secret is the gurgling noise that it makes, both as it pours, and when righted again - without ever affecting smooth pouring.
About Gluggle Jugs
Making a unique sound when poured, gurgling jugs were invented by Stoke potters in the 1870s. In 1958, Dartmouth Pottery made a special fish-shaped version for the Queen and Prince Phillip on their visit to Britannia Naval College. Instantly famous, the jug soon entered mass production. The rights to the enduringly popular jugs have changed hands over the years, but in 2022, The Gluggle Jug Factory took on the challenge, saving the Stoke factory from closure.
