We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Food Hall Buying Team and support the continued success of the Food Hall Department.

The Department is home to some of the most fantastic traditional Scottish food and drink and includes an award-winning Butchery, one of Britain’s most comprehensive Delicatessen counters along with our well established Wine, Beers & Spirits room. Our Food Hall Department is one of the most comprehensive offerings that you will find.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Buyer to assist with the growth and development of the Department. If you enjoy working with luxury brands, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
This role is permanent and is based in our Food Hall office working 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday inclusive.

Key responsibilities:
  • Providing excellent customer service face to face, over the telephone and by email/letter.
  • Management of incoming stock, stock rotation and merchandising following the guidelines given by the Food Hall Head Buyer.
  • Increase the profitability and reduce waste and out of date stock using strategic ordering methods.
  • Management of new and existing suppliers within your remit to negotiate prices and new product development.
  • Make decisions in the absence of the Food Hall Buying Manager.
  • Continued development of the Food Hall area of the House of Bruar website.
  • Highlighting best sellers and underperforming items, providing suggested solutions to enhance or reduce the impact on the business.
  • Dealing with customer queries and complaints. Liaising with customer services for returns, exchanges, refunds and faulty goods.
  • Managing social media and Trip Advisor feedback relating to the Food Hall and Fish and Chip Shop.
  • Assisting with visual merchandising.
  • Producing monthly reports for Food Hall Management meetings.
  • Reporting on stock control valuing and quantities, weekly, monthly and quarterly.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to write reports.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
