About The Artist
Bryn Parry is a Wiltshire based cartoonist and sculptor. Following ten years in the army, Bryn gave up his regular commission in The Royal Green Jackets to make a living from art.
He and his wife Emma, began Bryn Parry Studios in 1986, producing high quality gifts based on Bryn’s designs as well as undertaking hundreds of commissions. Bryn published his first book, Mad dogs and Englishmen, in 2000 and twelve others subsequently.
Then in 2007, Bryn and his wife founded and ran Help for Heroes (H4H)and in 2010 were both appointed OBE for the help and support they provided for those wounded in the Armed Services. After 9 years, they stepped down from their executive roles and Bryn returned to his cartoons, deciding to take up sculpture. Initially he concentrated on portraits, including those of wounded soldiers before creating his ‘Cartoons in Clay’ series.
Infamous Grouse’ represents the first in the ‘Cartoons in Clay’ series, being based on a character first seen in Mad Dogs and Englishmen and that character was in turn based on a Grouse Keeper from nearby Kinnaird House, whom Bryn met years ago on a cartoon commission.
It is a life sized cock Red Grouse, fashioned in a Glen Gary and Kilt.
