About Alpaca
Considered so precious by the Inca that it could only be worn by the emperor, alpaca wool is exceptionally soft due to the absence of lanolin within its fibres. Harvested by shearing the camel-like creatures, the majority of alpaca wool is still sourced from the alpaca's native home of South America, and is almost as prized by today's fashion industry as it was by the Inca.
About Viscose
Despite being a modern yarn, viscose, or rayon, has many of the properties of a natural fibre due to its derivation from natural plant cellulose. Using fast-growing renewable woods like eucalyptus, beech, pine and bamboo, viscose is naturally breathable and cooling. Developed originally as a substitute for silk, viscose has a wonderful floaty drape. It also works well blended with natural linen, resulting in cooling garments with a noted draping quality.
