Product description
Fashioned by hand from sheet stainless steel, this remarkable work captures the fragile instant when a woodcock breaks from cover, a frozen moment in time that’s taut with energy and motion. Artist Jason Sweeney has managed to find a perfect poise in this exquisitely crafted piece, as the woodcock darts skyward from a languid thicket of impossibly delicate foliage. Beautifully observed and immaculately rendered, this striking sculpture displays an assured mastery of materials and composition.
About the Artist
Jason Sweeney was born in Lancashire. He worked as a farrier until a visit to Scotland and the meandering River Tweed brought him the inspiration he needed to try his hand at something more artistic, and since then he’s never looked back, moving to the Scottish Borders and quickly establishing himself as one of the UK’s leading wildlife sculptors.
A keen sportsman himself, Jason’s artistic quarry mainly consists of raptors, game birds and fish, with the salmon being his signature piece. Sheet steel is his medium of choice, and he produces works for both public exhibitions and private commissions.
