About the Artist

Elizabeth Gilbey is an artist based in Galloway, South West Scotland. Trained in classical painting and drawing techniques at the London Fine Art Studios, she studied under masters such as Ann Witheridge, Scott Pohlschmidt and Nick Bashall, gaining a solid foundation in the traditional atelier method.

Working mainly in oils but also in watercolours, pastels and pen and ink, Elizabeth explores a wide range of subjects including still life, landscapes, animals and people.

Her work has been shown at exhibitions including:

• The Chase Contemporary Art Exhibition (five shows from 2009–2014)
• The London Fine Art Studios Summer Exhibition
• The Craft of Drawing and Painting Exhibition at the Leighton House Museum, London
• The House of Bruar Gallery

Elizabeth takes her inspiration from the stunning scenery and wildlife of Galloway, where she lives with her husband, two sons, two spaniels and horse.
