The Hearach Isle of Harris Single Malt 70cl
PRODUCT CODE: FA00355
Product description
We are thrilled to announce that we have taken delivery of ‘The Hearach’ – the first ever single malt Scotch whisky distilled at the Isle of Harris Distillery. The word ‘Hearach’ refers to a person from the Isle of Harris, an immensely appropriate name for a highly personal product, one made with painstaking care and passion in the wild and remote Outer Hebrides.
Already famous for their exceptionally crafted and presented gin, the talented folks at the Isle of Harris Distillery have deployed all of their spirits mastery and their creative passion to create this new whisky product, whose presentation is stunning enough to floor you before you’ve even touched a drop.
Once opened, you’ll be rewarded with a complex and subtle Scotch whisky. Lightly peated at 12-15ppm, there’s a breath of peat smoke that gives the other aromas their chance to shine. There’s a delicious green apple note; this is a young whisky so estery notes from the distillation process are a welcome chance to get to know the distillery's character. Accompanying citrus notes along with crumbly biscuits are typical of the bourbon-seasoned casks used in the maturation process, and there are some deeper fruit notes, possibly courtesy of the sherry casks used. On the palate, there’s a little maltiness, but a pleasant caramel sweetness is the dominant flavour. This whisky is bottled at batch strength, so you’ll need to sip slowly to allow it to mellow in the glass. On the finish, there’s subtle smoke and residual estery notes.
This whisky is non-chill filtered and has no artificial colouring. This expression has been released in eight separate batches, which may vary in appearance and even flavour. At an extremely reasonable price, this whisky will be snapped up by enthusiasts, and we aren’t expecting our allocation to be with us for long.
70cl/46%. This is batch no.12 of the 2024 releases of Hearach. It has been made using a marriage of casks from Buffalo Trace (64%), Heaven Hill (21%), Oloroso Sherry (11%) and Fino Sherry (4%). One of only 12,100 bottles from Batch 12.
