About Campbell Bryson

Campbell Bryson studied at the Glasgow School of Art where he was awarded the Governor's prize, a travelling scholarship. He has spent most of his life working and teaching in the Highlands. He was head of art and design in Highland schools, now retired he has time to concentrate more on his own work.

Living in the Cairngorm National Park with its constantly changing light and atmosphere, Campbell is inspired by the Highland landscape that surrounds him. Trees are a common theme but other varied subjects regularly feature in his art work.

He prefers to use oils but often uses a mixed media approach. This allows him to paint using different techniques and in a more impressionistic style.

Harmony of colour and textural qualities are very important to him. He loves the patterns to be found in nature.
