Fred is a wood turner who works primarily with local and native hardwoods, creating both commissioned and functional pieces.
His main goal is to broaden the range of pieces he creates, pushing the boundaries of his ability.
He strives to ascertain new and innovative techniques which can transform an item instantly. He looks at each block of wood individually to distinguish its characteristics. This can ultimately then be developed into a feature, whether it is the bark, shape or the grain that inspires him.
