Description
Painting of a black grouse in flight across silver tone spent shot gun shells.
Notes
This meticulous depiction of the blackgame grouse uses a vivid pallet of colours to bring the famous blue-black colourings of the creature to life. In flight, the plumage of the wings and tail feathers bring a beautiful contrast to the darker tones throughout. Unlike much of Leadbeater's work, this piece is framed against a silver-toned backdrop rather than gold, allowing the colours of the piece to truly shine, and, possibly setting the bird in a winter setting. The ideal size to make a statement in your hall or study, this is the perfect reminder of your love of sporting pursuits and appreciation of Scotland's highland diversity.
About Jasper Leadbeater
Jasper Leadbeater is a self-taught artist whose early passion for fine art and drawing developed into a successful career built on detailed pencil commissions. His curiosity and environmental awareness led him to experiment with spent shotgun shells as an unconventional canvas, forming the foundation of a distinctive and recognisable style. Drawing inspiration from the countryside, his work brings together traditional country pursuits with a contemporary approach to animal portraiture, using intricately hand-drawn and hand-cut stencils combined with spray paint.
Through continued experimentation, his focus has evolved towards capturing the beauty of the animal kingdom, particularly within Highland settings, resulting in work that feels both modern and deeply connected to the natural world. Browse all our
